Florida State senior pitcher Allison Royalty has announced via her Instagram that she will miss the remainder of the 2024 softball season due to an injury. This comes as a significant blow to the Seminoles as they prepare for their Super Regional matchup against the Oklahoma Sooners this weekend, especially since they are already without the services of sophomore pitcher Makenna Reid.
The status of Reid, who last pitched on April 21, remains unknown for the upcoming Super Regional. In her absence, Royalty and freshman pitcher Ashtyn Danley have been leading the FSU pitching staff.
Before her injury, Royalty had an impressive season, pitching in 29 games with 15 starts and 2 complete games. Over the course of 69 innings, she maintained a solid 3.75 ERA. Royalty transferred to Florida State from Arizona State prior to the 2023 season and has since become a valuable asset to the team's pitching rotation.
While Royalty will no longer be able to contribute on the field, she has expressed her determination to support her teammates from the dugout. Her infectious energy and unwavering spirit will undoubtedly provide inspiration to the rest of the Seminoles as they face the tough challenge of the Super Regional without two key pitchers.
FSU will now rely on Danley and the remaining members of their pitching staff to step up and fill the void left by Royalty's absence. The team will need to bring their A-game against the formidable Oklahoma Sooners this weekend and look towards a collective effort to secure a spot in the College World Series.
As the Seminoles prepare to fight for victory, they can take solace in knowing that they have an injured teammate who will continue to cheer them on with all her heart from the dugout. The team will undoubtedly rally together with the goal of making Royalty's presence felt, even if she can't physically be on the field.
Though Royalty's injury is a setback, the Florida State softball team remains determined to overcome this challenge and continue their pursuit of a championship.
