In a shocking turn of events, five members of the Tufts University men's lacrosse team have been hospitalized following a voluntary workout session led by a graduate of a Navy SEAL training program. Out of the roughly 50 team members who participated in the intense workout on Monday, 12 players were diagnosed with Rhabdomyolysis, a serious condition that can potentially lead to kidney damage and even death.
The Tufts community was left in disbelief upon hearing the news of the lacrosse team members falling ill. Despite the alarming situation, students, including Cooper Kolehmainen and Prosper Abuanor, have expressed their admiration for the players' dedication and strength during the rigorous training session. Practices for the team have been put on hold until each member receives medical clearance, with hopes for a swift recovery so they can return to doing what they love on the field.
Tufts University, renowned for its academic excellence and competitive sports programs, has initiated an external investigation to thoroughly examine the circumstances surrounding the workout session. Located in Medford and Somerville, Tufts is home to approximately 6,700 undergraduate students. The men's lacrosse team notably secured its fourth NCAA title by defeating RIT in May, showcasing their exceptional talent and commitment to the sport.
