**Falcons Face Tampa Bay Without Star Linebacker Troy Andersen**
The Atlanta Falcons will tackle their Week 5 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers without their newly honored NFC Defensive Player of the Week, Troy Andersen. The standout linebacker has been benched due to a knee injury he sustained in the closing stages of last Sunday's victory over the New Orleans Saints.
Head coach Raheem Morris confirmed Andersen's absence after he missed Atlanta's final practice on their shortened week of prep. In Sunday’s win, Andersen delivered a phenomenal performance with a career-high 16 tackles and his first pick-six, a pivotal contribution that earned him his recent accolade. However, his knee injury prevented him from participating in subsequent walkthroughs and practices.
In Andersen's stead, rookie inside linebacker JD Bertrand will step up. Bertrand, a fifth-round draft pick, is set to take over the role alongside Kaden Elliss. Bertrand saw limited play with eight defensive snaps against the Saints and impressed the coaching staff. Defensive Coordinator Jimmy Lake expressed confidence in Bertrand, praising his football instincts and performance in practice.
On the offensive front, there is positive news regarding Kaleb McGary. After missing last Sunday's game due to an MCL sprain from Week 3, McGary was a full participant in the Falcons' most recent practice session. With no game designation, he is likely to resume his spot on the offensive line. Storm Norton previously filled in for McGary, while Ryan Neuzil took Drew Dalman’s position at center as Dalman is on injured reserve.
Furthermore, offensive key players Bijan Robinson (hamstring) and Ray-Ray McCloud III (ankle) practiced fully on Wednesday and will be active for the upcoming game. The only player still under observation is rookie running back Jase McClellan, who is questionable due to an illness and was limited in practice.
As the Falcons prepare for their prime-time clash with the Buccaneers, they will lean on their depth and resilience to overcome the absence of their defensive star Andersen.
