More information has surfaced regarding the recent DUI arrest of ex-NFL quarterback Jay Cutler in Franklin, Tennessee—a suburb of Nashville. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon when Cutler, 41, reportedly rear-ended another vehicle. According to police documents reviewed by WGN, Cutler attempted to offer the other driver $2,000 not to contact the authorities.
When officers arrived at the scene, they observed that Cutler had bloodshot eyes and was slurring his words. Initially, Cutler claimed he hadn't consumed any alcohol but later admitted to having "a little bit." He refused to take a field sobriety test and was subsequently taken to a hospital where his blood was drawn for testing. The results of the blood test are still pending.
Additionally, police reported finding a rifle and a loaded Glock handgun in Cutler’s vehicle. As a result, Cutler is facing multiple charges including DUI-first offense, failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision, and possession of a handgun while under the influence.
Jay Cutler, who enjoyed an NFL career spanning from 2006 to 2017, was released on Thursday after posting a $5,000 bond. During his time in the NFL, he accumulated over 35,000 passing yards along with 227 touchdown passes and 160 interceptions.
