### Former Jets Head Coach Robert Saleh Assists Packers' Offense

In an interesting turn of events, recently dismissed Jets head coach Robert Saleh has surfaced at a Green Bay Packers practice, contributing to the team's offensive strategies from a defensive standpoint. According to Packers head coach Matt LaFleur, Saleh is offering his expertise without any formal agreement in place.

“This setup is quite flexible," LaFleur commented when inquired about the duration of Saleh's involvement. Highlighting their long-standing friendship, LaFleur reminisced, "We've known each other for ages. We were roommates at Central Michigan and thought it would be beneficial for both sides for him to come here, learn, and offer insights on our gameplay vulnerabilities."

This move follows a similar strategy the Packers employed in 2022 when they brought in veteran defensive coach Aubrey Pleasant as an offensive consultant. LaFleur mentioned that the collaboration with Pleasant turned out to be fruitful. Pleasant subsequently advanced to the role of assistant head coach and passing game coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams.

Saleh, who is staying with LaFleur through Thursday, will return to his family on Friday. The Jets let go of Saleh earlier this month after he led the team to a 2-3 start. Before his head-coaching stint with the Jets, Saleh was the defensive coordinator for the 49ers from 2017 to 2020. After Saleh's dismissal, it was LaFleur who reached out right away, extending an invitation for him to assist the Packers.

The two coaches share a rich history, having been roommates back in 2004 at Central Michigan. Their professional paths also crossed as they worked together on the Houston Texans' staff in 2008 and 2009—LaFleur contributing on offense while Saleh coached defense.

Additionally, Saleh is connected to Packers' current defensive coordinator, Jeff Hafley, who served as the 49ers' defensive backs coach under Saleh in 2018. However, LaFleur emphasized that he does not intend for Saleh to influence Green Bay's defensive strategies, expressing high confidence in Hafley and the current defensive staff.

Saleh’s experience could provide the Packers with some critical insights, particularly as they prepare for their upcoming games. Green Bay, currently boasting a 5-2 record, is set to face Jacksonville, who are 2-5, on Sunday, followed by a clash with Detroit, who have a 5-1 record, before their Week 10 bye.
