Easter Weekend Weather: Clouds, Sunny Breaks, and a Stormy Mid-Week Forecast Ahead
ICARO Media Group
Easter Sunday brought a mix of clouds and sunny breaks across the region, accompanied by milder temperatures and less wind. The drier air flowing into the area allowed for some glimpses of sunshine through the afternoon. High temperatures ranged from the mid to upper 50s in the south, while the north experienced cooler temperatures in the 40s, with even colder conditions in far northern Maine.
As the day turned to night, a clear sky dotted with a few clouds prevailed, and the combination of light winds and dry air allowed temperatures to drop, particularly in the traditionally colder areas. Overnight lows ranged mostly in the 30s in the south and 20s to 30s in the north.
Looking ahead to the start of the new week, Monday is anticipated to bring more clouds to the region. A spot shower is expected along the southern New England coast, with a possibility of a stray rain or snow shower over the higher elevations of northern New England. Inland areas can expect temperatures to reach the 50s, while coastal regions may experience slightly cooler conditions due to onshore winds.
By Tuesday, clouds will thicken further, accompanied by slightly cooler temperatures. Rain showers are forecasted to move in late in the day and continue overnight into Wednesday. Inland, higher terrain may see some wet snowflakes mix in with the rain.
The mid-week forecast turns stormy, with First Alert stamps posted on the 10-Day forecast for both Wednesday and Thursday. A developing storm system south of New England is expected to bring the impacts of rain, wind, and inland snow. While current predictions indicate that the Boston area will mainly experience rainfall, there is some uncertainty regarding the storm's track. It is possible that the rain/snow line could collapse back to the I-95 corridor during the late Wednesday and early Thursday morning period. Further updates will be provided as new models provide a clearer picture of the storm.
In addition, there are indications that this system may linger, leading to unsettled weather conditions persisting through the first half of the upcoming weekend. More details will be shared as the situation develops. As we eagerly anticipate the upcoming Eclipse scheduled for a week from Monday, the current trend suggests a storm-free event. Let's hope Mother Nature doesn't throw any curveballs at us.
Stay tuned for further weather updates and have a great rest of your day!
