" The news comes after speculation surrounding the possibility of a Dead Space 2 remake surfaced, only to be dismissed by EA.
Bloomberg's Jason Schreier took to social media to support EA's statement that there was no development of a sequel at EA's Motive studio. According to Schreier, Motive has been engaged in other projects for almost a year, despite exploring ideas for a new entry in the Dead Space series early last year. However, none of these ideas were given the green light.
Schreier clarified that the codename associated with the project, which led to the confusion about a Dead Space 2 remake, was simply used to describe the next project the Dead Space team was working on. He emphasized that it was not related to Dead Space in any way.
Interestingly, Motive is currently a two-project team, focusing on the development of Iron Man and Battlefield. The studio's general manager, Patrick Klaus, highlighted the significant progress they have made with the Iron Man game, which has reached a major internal milestone.
Earlier this week, it was announced that Philippe Ducharme and Roman Campos-Oriola, directors of the Dead Space remake, would be forming a new team within EA Motive to work on the Battlefield franchise.
Despite the disappointment among Dead Space fans, EA's decision to "put the series on ice" suggests that the future of the acclaimed survival horror franchise remains uncertain. With Motive's attention currently directed towards other projects, it seems that Dead Space enthusiasts will have to wait patiently for any potential continuation or revival of the series.
As the gaming community eagerly awaits further updates from EA and Motive, the focus now rests on the progress of Iron Man and Battlefield, as these projects take precedence in the studio's development pipeline.
