**E. Coli Outbreak Linked to McDonald's Quarter Pounder Claims One Life and Sickens 49**

A recent E. coli outbreak tied to McDonald’s Quarter Pounder hamburgers has resulted in one fatality and left 49 individuals ill, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The majority of the cases have surfaced in Colorado and Nebraska.

The CDC’s preliminary investigations have pointed to slivered onions, specifically used in Quarter Pounders, as a probable source of the contamination. These onions are not typically found in other menu items, suggesting a limited scope of the contamination issue.

In response to the outbreak, McDonald's has decided to suspend the use of the suspect onions. Furthermore, the fast-food chain has halted the sale of Quarter Pounders at its locations in several states including Colorado, Kansas, Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Iowa, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, and Oklahoma.

Public health authorities are continuing their efforts to trace and resolve the contamination source, while McDonald’s cooperates fully to mitigate any further risk to consumers.
