**Dodgers' Historic Scoreless Streak Ends in NLCS Game 2 Against Mets**

The Los Angeles Dodgers came incredibly close to setting a Major League Baseball record for most consecutive scoreless innings in postseason play. However, their ambitious streak was halted by a leadoff home run from New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor at the beginning of Game 2 of the National League Championship Series.

Prior to Monday's game, the Dodgers had pitched 33 consecutive scoreless innings, tying the MLB postseason record held by the 1966 Baltimore Orioles. Just three more outs without giving up a run would have given Los Angeles sole possession of the record. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts credited the accomplishment to a collective effort from the players, coaches, and front office. “Certainly the players that were involved in all those scoreless innings have been fantastic, and I think defensively, we've been very good at converting outs when we need to,” Roberts said following the Dodgers' 9-0 triumph over the Mets in Game 1 of the NLCS on Sunday.

The scoreless innings streak began after the Dodgers surrendered six runs in the second inning to the San Diego Padres during Game 3 of the National League Divisional Series. From there, 12 Dodgers pitchers stitched together 33 innings without allowing a single run, helping the team to rally from a 2-1 deficit against the Padres. The pitching prowess continued as they clinched the series and shut out the Mets in Game 1.

This impressive run included a span in which Dodgers pitchers achieved a perfect game, setting down 28 straight batters from Game 5 of the NLDS through the third inning of Game 1 of the NLCS. Lindor disrupted that streak as well, drawing a walk in the top of the fourth inning.

What makes this achievement all the more remarkable is that it came despite a slew of injuries to key players on the Dodgers' pitching staff. Notable absences include All-Star starter Tyler Glasnow, who has been sidelined since August, and Gavin Stone, who underwent shoulder surgery after leading the team in starts during the regular season. Veteran ace Clayton Kershaw is also nursing an injured toe, while Joe Kelly, a prominent member of the 2020 World Series team, is out. Additionally, Shohei Ohtani has been contributing with his bat but is not pitching as he recovers from Tommy John surgery.

The Dodgers' stellar run of scoreless innings remarkably subdued two of the most potent offenses in the league. The Padres led all MLB teams in the regular season with a .263 batting average, while the Mets ranked highly in OPS and runs scored.

Despite the streak coming to an end, the Dodgers' performance remains a testament to their resilience and depth, setting the stage for an intense and competitive NL Championship Series.
