**Dodgers Edge Mets 6-5 with Late-Inning Rally**

Michael Conforto emerged as the hero for the Los Angeles Dodgers, driving in the decisive run in their eighth-inning surge to secure a 6-5 victory against the New York Mets. This win on Thursday allowed the Dodgers to split their four-game series against their National League rivals.

Conforto, who has been struggling in his debut season with the Dodgers, delivered a crucial two-out single to left field off Reed Garrett. This hit brought in the Dodgers' third unearned run of the inning, marking a significant turnaround for the team. Prior to this game, Conforto was in a slump, batting just .167 and managing only five hits in 42 at-bats over the past three weeks.

The rally was sparked earlier in the inning with Will Smith's RBI double, which tied the game. Smith further capitalized on an error by the Mets when Andy Pages' grounder to third was misplayed by Brett Baty, allowing Smith to notch the tying run. The Mets' defensive miscue proved costly, underlining the tense atmosphere of the game.

Alex Vesia, who secured just one out in the eighth inning, improved his record to 2-0. Tanner Scott then closed out the game, earning his 11th save of the season, and delivering a second consecutive strong performance in an otherwise challenging season.

Despite a strong start from Pete Alonso, Brandon Nimmo, and Starling Marte—each hitting early homers—and seven solid innings of three-run pitching by David Peterson, the Mets could not hold their early lead. This loss marks only their third defeat in 12 games.

Dodgers' pitcher Landon Knack struggled, unable to get out of the fourth inning after allowing four hits and five walks. The team's rotation has been under pressure given the significant injuries, with 15 pitchers, collectively earning over $100 million, currently sidelined.

The drama heightened when Francisco Lindor sat out due to a broken right pinky toe sustained from a pitch the previous day. Additionally, the errant play at home plate further fueled the Dodgers' late comeback.

Looking ahead, Justin Wrobleski will take the mound for the Dodgers on Friday, making his first start since April 8 in their series opener against the St. Louis Cardinals. Meanwhile, the Mets will see Kodai Senga, boasting a 6-3 record with a 1.60 ERA, pitch against Colorado.
