A long-time employee of Disneyland Resort tragically passed away after being thrown off a moving golf cart in the backstage area of the park. Bonnye Mavis Lear, 60, succumbed to her injuries two days after the incident occurred on Friday.

According to reports from Lear's colleagues and the Anaheim Police Department, the accident took place at approximately 11:30 am on Wednesday, prompting a swift response from law enforcement. Lear, who had been a valued member of the Disneyland team for 24 years, was rushed to the hospital after suffering severe head injuries.

Lear was known for her work at Club 33, a prestigious private dining club within Disneyland Resort. However, her tragic accident occurred while she was riding in the rear-facing seat of the golf cart, traveling at an estimated speed of 20 mph behind Critter County. Witnesses revealed that Lear was thrown from the vehicle when the driver carelessly struck a road bump.

Disney California Adventure attractions cast member, Rae Delgado, shared details about the incident in a Facebook statement, explaining that Lear had reached for the handrail, which unexpectedly gave way. Delgado expressed frustration, stating that the accident could have been prevented if the driver had not been operating the cart recklessly. Delgado further questioned how a brand new golf cart from the entertainment department could malfunction in such a manner and expressed her sympathy for both Lear's family and colleagues.

Disneyland Resort President, Ken Potrock, expressed deep sorrow at the loss of Lear and extended heartfelt condolences to those who knew and cared for her. Potrock emphasized the company's focus on supporting Lear's family and the Disneyland cast members affected by this tragic event, ensuring they have the necessary resources during this difficult time.

The details surrounding the fatal golf cart accident remain limited as authorities continue their investigation. Lear's colleagues, however, have shed light on the incident, highlighting the need for heightened safety measures to prevent similar accidents from occurring in the future.
