A small wildfire, named the Dinosaur Fire, started on Friday morning in an open space area near the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) office in Boulder. Although the fire is currently not posing a threat to structures, the precautionary evacuation of the NSF NCAR Mesa Lab campus was implemented.

Emergency managers informed that the Dinosaur Fire, estimated to be around 3 acres, is burning near the Mallory Cave Trail. In response, multiple fire and police agencies in Colorado have been mobilized to contain the fire. To tackle the blaze, air resources, including a helicopter, were called in to assist the firefighting efforts.

Boulder is situated in the southwestern part of the city, which is located in the far northwestern corner of the Denver metro area. Authorities described the fire as "slow-moving" and assured residents that there were no immediate concerns regarding its impact on homes or structures. Rick Tillery, the public information officer for Mountain View Fire Rescue, stated that as long as the wind direction remains unchanged, encroachment onto structures is not a cause for concern.

As of now, there have been no reported injuries, and the cause of the fire is yet to be determined. In the event of smoke sightings in the area, residents are advised not to call 911, as the authorities are already aware of the situation, according to a tweet by the Boulder Office of Emergency Management.

The Boulder region, like other parts of Colorado's Front Range, is currently experiencing extremely high temperatures. At 12:45 p.m., the thermometer indicated a scorching 97 degrees.

With further updates pending, residents and authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure the safety of the affected area.
