The Detroit Tigers have traded left-handed relief pitcher Andrew Chafin to the Texas Rangers in exchange for minor league right-handers Joseph Montalvo and Chase Lee, the Rangers announced on Tuesday. Chafin, a seasoned veteran at 34 years old, is set to bolster the defending World Series champions' bullpen as they gear up for a potential playoff push. Despite currently standing three games below .500, the Rangers are just 3.5 games behind in the race for the American League West lead. Chafin has showcased a solid performance this season with a 3.16 ERA in 41 relief appearances for the Tigers, holding a 3-2 record and one save in four opportunities. Overall, in his 11-year MLB career across five different clubs, Chafin boasts a 3.39 ERA, a 20-26 record, and 20 career saves, with an impressive total of 535 strikeouts over 489 innings pitched.
