The NBA's leaked City and Classic Edition jerseys have once again sparked excitement among fans, with the Detroit Pistons set to introduce a new City Edition jersey for the upcoming 2024-25 season. The new jersey, predominantly featuring the color cream, deviates from the black jerseys of the previous season while paying homage to the team's iconic Bad Boys era.
The leaked images of the new City Edition jersey showcase a design that includes black and orange accents, along with vertical orange stripes adorning the sides. Notably, the numbers "89" and "90" are displayed in alternating order on the jersey, symbolizing the Pistons' championships in 1989 and 1990. The jersey also includes two tributes to Hall of Fame Pistons coach Chuck Daly, with his initials and signature prominently featured on the front, along with the phrase "Back 2 Back" as a nod to the team's consecutive titles.
The Detroit Pistons' new City Edition jersey will join their existing lineup, which includes the Statement Edition unveiled in 2022 with red and blue stripes, as well as the "Icon" blue road jersey and the "Association" white home jersey. As part of NBA regulations, teams can showcase up to five jerseys throughout the season, allowing for a variety of designs and themes for fans to enjoy. The Pistons are gearing up to start their regular season at home against the Indiana Pacers on Oct. 23, following the commencement of training camp on Sept. 30.
