**Woman Removed from Delta Flight Over Shellfish Allergy, Sparks Online Discussion**
Ellie Brelis, a frequent traveler and Delta Rewards credit cardholder, faced an unexpected obstacle when attempting to board a Delta flight from Los Angeles to Boston. Brelis, who suffers from a severe shellfish allergy, always informs the flight crew about her condition and carries multiple EpiPens for safety. However, despite having her allergy documented with Delta, her experience took an unexpected turn this time.
As she boarded the plane, Brelis followed her routine procedure of notifying the flight attendants about her medical needs. The situation escalated when the crew expressed concern about cooking shellfish in first class. Brelis, who was not flying in first class, observed the growing commotion which eventually led to a Delta medical representative boarding the plane and making the decision to remove her from the flight. Unfortunately, her luggage remained on board as she exited.
Placed on a later Delta flight, Brelis soon faced a similar issue as the new flight also planned to serve shellfish with no promise of a buffer zone. Frustrated and anxious about reaching her destination, she turned to TikTok to share her ordeal. The video resonated with many, gathering around 100,000 views and prompting other passengers to share their similar experiences.
Fearing for her health and under time pressure to see her doctor in Boston, Brelis made the decision to book a seat on a JetBlue flight, which enabled her to reach her appointment on time. Despite her proactive measures and compliance with Delta's guidelines, Brelis noted that her Delta flight was not refunded. This experience has left her questioning future travel plans and searching for ways to prevent such incidents.
Delta advises passengers with allergies to fill out a specific form or contact their accessibility services team before flying, measures that Brelis claimed she followed. Delta has yet to provide any response regarding the situation.
