### Davante Adams Trade Speculations Heat Up Amid Injury Woes
Amid ongoing injury troubles, Davante Adams' future with the Las Vegas Raiders remains uncertain. The All-Pro wide receiver, currently grappling with a hamstring issue, is unlikely to play in Week 5. However, the larger narrative revolves around potential trade discussions, with Adams expressing a desire to reunite with Aaron Rodgers on the New York Jets, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The Jets are reportedly leading the charge among several teams interested in acquiring Adams. Other teams in the running include the New Orleans Saints, Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills, and Baltimore Ravens. The Dallas Cowboys were initially considered potential suitors but are no longer believed to be in the mix. Both the Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers are attractive destinations for Adams, although San Francisco's substantial cap space of $56.74 million could give them an edge over Baltimore, which has just $4.31 million in cap space.
Any team looking to acquire Adams would need to absorb a portion of his $16.89 million base salary, along with $30,000 in weekly roster bonuses, and integrate this into their 2024 cap structure. Adams’ contract extends for another two years, but a restructure involving guaranteed money for 2025 and beyond is anticipated wherever he lands. The Raiders have the option to retain some of Adams' salary, which could enhance their draft pick compensation in a trade. According to Dianna Russini from The Athletic, the Bills and Kansas City Chiefs are monitoring Adams' market closely and could intensify their pursuit if Vegas agrees to absorb some salary.
While Kansas City could potentially benefit from an additional receiver, the Raiders are prepared to accept the highest bid, which may still come from the Jets who currently have $16.81 million in cap space. The Saints, led by Derek Carr, or another eager team could complicate matters for New York by offering more competitive deals. The Raiders' initial asking price starts with a second-round pick, but negotiations could shift if discussions about salary retention are factored in.
Adams missed Week 4 and, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, is not expected to play against the Denver Broncos in Week 5. However, Russini mentions that Adams could return to full health by Week 6 if there are no setbacks, allowing him to continue playing for the Raiders until a trade is finalized. Rapoport has noted that no immediate trade is on the horizon, yet the possibility of a resolution before the November 5 trade deadline remains high.
As the Raiders mull over their options and the Jets show strong interest, other teams’ involvement could intensify as the deadline approaches. Whether Adams suits up for a new team or stays with the Raiders for the rest of the season, his situation continues to generate significant interest across the NFL.
