In an episode of Netflix's "Receiver" series, star wide receiver Davante Adams of the Las Vegas Raiders sheds light on the challenges of handling bad quarterback play, revealing his thoughts on the team's decision to bench starter Jimmy Garoppolo in favor of rookie Aidan O'Connell in Week 9.

Speaking candidly, Adams acknowledged that he supported the move to bench Garoppolo, citing the necessity to make a change in order to have a fighting chance in the remainder of the season and for him to remain a Raider. "My opinion on that was I signed off on that," Adams explained, emphasizing his commitment to the team's success.

Garoppolo, who signed a three-year, $72 million deal with the Raiders during the 2023 offseason, had a tumultuous season, starting in six games and accumulating a 65.0 Pro Football Focus passing grade, ranking him 28th among quarterbacks with a minimum of 190 dropbacks. With the team going 3-3 during his tenure as the starter, it became evident that a change was necessary.

Ultimately, the Raiders parted ways with Garoppolo, who was subsequently cut in March. The 32-year-old quarterback has since signed a one-year deal to back up Matthew Stafford with the Los Angeles Rams.

Despite the quarterback drama, Adams showcased his exceptional skills on the field, finishing the season with impressive numbers. The 31-year-old wide receiver recorded 103 catches for 1,114 yards and eight touchdowns, placing him among the top performers in the league last season.

Under interim head coach Antonio Pierce, the Raiders found their footing and finished the season with a 5-4 record down the stretch. The team secured notable victories, including a win against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 16 and a dominant performance against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 15. Though the season had its ups and downs, the Raiders displayed resilience, competing fiercely even in losses to the Dolphins, Vikings, and Colts.

As the franchise confirmed Pierce as their permanent head coach, uncertainties persist regarding the starting quarterback position. O'Connell, who replaced Garoppolo and had a modest performance with a 65.9 overall and 64.6 PFF passing grade, and veteran backup Gardner Minshew are now vying for the QB1 spot.

Amidst rumors of a potential reunion with former teammate Aaron Rodgers, Adams expressed his commitment to staying with the Raiders in the immediate future. While the quarterback situation remains unresolved, Adams's loyalty to the silver and black indicates that he intends to continue making plays and contributing to the team's success.

With the 2024 season approaching, Las Vegas fans eagerly await the resolution of the ongoing quarterback competition and the opportunity to witness Davante Adams's electrifying performances once again.
