**Daniel Jones Signs with the Vikings, Excited to Contribute**
Former New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has joined the Minnesota Vikings following his recent release from the Giants. Jones, who was benched due to poor performance and concerns over a potential injury guarantee, found himself reassigned to play safety on the scout team in practice. Feeling sidelined, Jones requested his release, which the Giants granted.
After signing with the 9-2 Vikings, Jones spoke to reporters to explain his decision. According to Jones, the offensive system and the coaching of Kevin O’Connell were major factors in his choice. “You look at offensively what they've been able to do, the system, coach O'Connell and his staff. Just a lot of good things happening across the board as a team and organization, and on offense especially," Jones shared with Sports Illustrated. He expressed excitement about contributing to the success of the team in any way he can.
Jones will be serving as the backup to Sam Darnold, another former first-round pick who has revived his career under O’Connell’s coaching. While Jones hasn’t studied Darnold’s recent performances in detail, he acknowledged Darnold's impressive season and expressed his happiness for his fellow quarterback. “Obviously he's been playing at an extremely high level and doing a lot of good things. I've known Sam for a while now and always kind of pulled for him. He's had a great year and played at a really high level," Jones said.
Reflecting on his bright moments, Jones fondly recalled leading a 31-24 victory against the Vikings in the 2022-23 playoffs. "I like U.S. Bank Stadium," Jones noted with a smile. "It is an incredible stadium, and the fans there are incredible. I'm looking forward to being back there and seeing it on Sunday."
As Jones integrates himself into the Vikings' roster, he hopes to capitalize on this new opportunity and support the team as they push further into the season.
