Cubs vs. Marlins Game Postponed Due to Incoming Storm, Reconfigured Schedule Announced

In light of an approaching storm, the Chicago Cubs have made the decision to proactively postpone their scheduled game against the Miami Marlins on Thursday. This postponement comes just as the North Siders were gearing up to kick off a seven-game homestand at Wrigley Field.
To make up for the missed game, a split doubleheader has been arranged for Saturday. The first game will start at 2:20 p.m. ET/1:20 CT, followed by the second game at 7:40 p.m. ET/6:40 CT. Fans attending the doubleheader must have separate tickets for each game, and after the completion of Game 1, they will be required to exit the ballpark. The gates for Game 2 will open approximately an hour prior to its start, pending the conclusion of the first game.
The Cubs had initially planned for right-handed pitcher Jameson Taillon, who had recently been activated from the injured list, to start Thursday's game. However, due to the rescheduling, Taillon will now take the mound on Friday. Shota Imanaga and Javier Assad are slated to start for the Cubs during Saturday's doubleheader, though the specific order has yet to be determined. Both teams will be allowed to carry a 27th player for the twin bill.
On the Marlins' side, manager Skip Schumaker announced that A.J. Puk, who was set to be the probable starter on Thursday, will now take the mound on Friday. The starter for the second game on Saturday, as well as Jesús Luzardo's pitching assignment, are yet to be determined.
The Cubs' decision to postpone the game comes after a demanding 10-day road trip through San Diego, Seattle, and Arizona, which placed added strain on their pitching staff. Taillon's return to the rotation is expected to provide some stability to a starting staff that has also faced the absence of left-handed pitcher Justin Steele, who is currently on the injured list recovering from a left hamstring issue. Additionally, Kyle Hendricks is set to stay on schedule and start in Sunday's finale.
For fans planning to attend Saturday's doubleheader, it is important to note that separate tickets are required for each game. Mobile tickets via the MLB Ballpark app will automatically update with the makeup game information, eliminating the need for a ticket exchange.
As both teams navigate through the challenges presented by weather and scheduling, baseball enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the action-packed doubleheader ahead at Wrigley Field.
