The Cleveland Browns have taken steps to bolster their offense in the latest mock draft conducted by ESPN's Mel Kiper and Field Yates. With their selections in the second and third rounds, the Browns have added promising prospects at wide receiver and running back.

In the mock draft, the Browns grabbed Oregon wide receiver Troy Franklin with the 54th overall pick. According to Yates, the team still feels the need for an additional wide receiver, especially with Amari Cooper's contract set to expire. Franklin is described as a speedy playmaker who excels at creating big plays down the field. The Browns have been showing interest in Franklin throughout the draft process, making him a suitable choice for their offense.

However, some experts believe that a wide receiver with a more well-rounded skillset would be a better fit for the Browns. With Cooper and Elijah Moore potentially entering free agency, having a receiver who can contribute in multiple areas would add versatility to their offense.

In the third round, Kiper and Yates projected the Browns to select running back Trey Benson. Despite the presence of D'Onta Foreman and Nyheim Hines in the running back room, the addition of another young talent is seen as a way to provide competition and depth. Benson is praised for his speed, agility, and ability to find running lanes, making him an intriguing prospect to push star running back Nick Chubb.

The decision to address offensive needs in the draft is understandable for the Browns, who had limited picks in the early rounds. With just two picks in the first two rounds, the team needed to prioritize their areas of concern. The uncertain future of Nick Chubb, along with the underwhelming performances of Jerome Ford and Pierre Strong Jr. last season, prompted the selection of Benson.

While this mock draft is not a certainty, it offers insight into the Browns' potential plans and areas of focus. Adding a dynamic wide receiver and a young running back could undoubtedly rejuvenate their offense and provide additional options for quarterback Baker Mayfield.

As the 2024 NFL draft approaches, it will be interesting to see if the Cleveland Browns follow this mock draft strategy and whether it leads to success on the field in the upcoming season.
