In a recent interview, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce put an end to retirement speculations as he stated that he did not want to set a "timeframe" for his retirement decision ahead of the 2024 NFL season. Adding to the conversation, his teammate, defensive tackle Chris Jones, expressed his reluctance to discuss retirement at this stage of their careers.

Jones emphasized the importance of staying focused and not allowing retirement thoughts to distract them. He firmly stated, "I don't even want my mind to even go that far to the R word." The defensive tackle believes he and Kelce still have many years ahead of them in the NFL.

Furthermore, Jones revealed a fascinating retirement plan involving his teammate Kelce. While jokingly dismissing the retirement talk, Jones said, "We can't let TK go. It's like we retire, we've got to retire together. Give me at least six, four years, then we'll talk about it."

However, considering the age difference between them, Jones at 29 and Kelce at 34, it would mean waiting for six more seasons for them to retire together. By that time, Kelce would be 40 years old. Nevertheless, both players seem determined to continue their NFL careers for the foreseeable future.

Kelce's commitment to the Chiefs was evident as he recently signed a two-year contract extension worth $34.25 million, solidifying his position as the highest-paid tight end in the league in terms of annual salary. Likewise, Jones secured a massive five-year, $158.75 million contract during the offseason, showcasing the team's confidence in his abilities.

As the teammates embark on another season in pursuit of Super Bowl glory, their focus remains on the present and the success they can achieve together on the field. Retirement plans may be on the horizon, but for now, Chiefs fans can rest assured that these two star players have no intentions of hanging up their cleats anytime soon.
