### Chiefs Trail Chargers 10-7 at Halftime Despite Offensive Struggles
The Kansas City Chiefs find themselves down 10-7 against the Los Angeles Chargers at halftime in what has been a rollercoaster first half. Both teams made a series of errors and big plays, leaving the outcome still very much up in the air.
The Chargers took an early lead, benefiting from Kansas City's turnovers on their first two possessions. Kristian Fulton intercepted a Patrick Mahomes pass, though the ball was stripped by Rashee Rice immediately after. As the ball rolled out of bounds, possession stayed with the Chargers, setting up their first score. Rookie Ladd McConkey capitalized on this opportunity, catching a 7-yard touchdown pass from Justin Herbert.
Kansas City's offense sputtered initially, managing only six first downs and racking up two turnovers, one on a fumble and the other an interception. However, the Chiefs found a spark late in the second quarter when Patrick Mahomes launched a 54-yard touchdown pass to rookie Xavier Worthy, cutting the Chargers' lead to 10-7.
Travis Kelce has been a standout for Kansas City, amassing 74 yards on five catches. This performance is a departure from his earlier games this season, where he struggled to surpass 35 yards.
Despite the 10-7 score, Kansas City has outgained Los Angeles with 173 total yards compared to the Chargers' 103. The Chiefs also converted 5 of their 9 third-down attempts, whereas the Chargers went just 1-for-6. However, two key offensive figures, Kareem Hunt and J.K. Dobbins, have only managed 25 and 22 yards respectively on the ground, contributing to Kansas City's lackluster offensive showing.
In another blow to the Chiefs, wideout Rashee Rice was carted off the field with a knee injury after making a crucial play to strip the ball following an interception. Rice has since been ruled out for the remainder of the game.
The Chargers' offensive line has struggled to protect Justin Herbert, who has been hit four times so far, further emphasizing their issues upfront due to the absence of key starters. After a promising opening drive, the Chargers experienced three consecutive three-and-outs, effectively stalling their momentum.
As the second half approaches, both teams will be looking to eliminate mistakes and capitalize on their opponent's weaknesses. With the parity shown in the first half, the game is still anyone's to win.
