Former "American Pickers" co-host Frank Fritz, who passed away at the age of 60, had his cause of death disclosed nearly two weeks after his demise. Fritz, a familiar face on the popular History Channel show, died from "late sequelae of cerebral infarction," commonly known as a stroke. His stroke was a consequence of cerebral vascular disease, as per his death certificate obtained by TMZ. Additionally, Fritz had been dealing with aortic stenosis, a condition that hampers blood flow to the heart and the rest of the body, which also contributed to his passing.
Frank Fritz’s untimely death on September 30 came two years after he suffered a severe stroke in 2022, which led to him being placed under temporary guardianship. His former colleague Mike Wolfe confirmed the sad news through an Instagram post dated October 1. Wolfe expressed his sorrow and reminisced about their time together, both on and off the screen. He shared a heartfelt tribute, highlighting Fritz’s dreamer spirit and his capacity to connect with people.
Born in Davenport, Iowa, Fritz gained fame through "American Pickers," a reality series that showcased him and Wolfe traveling across the United States in search of rare artifacts for their antique shops in Iowa and Tennessee. Despite stepping back from the show in March 2020 after back surgery, Fritz remained enthusiastic about returning. However, his exit became permanent when Wolfe's brother, Rob, was revealed as his replacement in July 2021.
The History Channel and American Pickers' production company, Cineflix Production, released a joint statement honoring Fritz’s legacy, referring to him as "the bearded charmer" known for his quest for vintage motorcycles and bikes. They extended their condolences to his loved ones, affirming that Fritz's presence would be deeply missed by all who knew him.
