In a recent Instagram post, singer Cassie Ventura, also known as "Cassie," has broken her silence nearly one week after a hotel surveillance video from 2016 showing her ex-boyfriend Sean "Diddy" Combs assaulting her surfaced. Ventura expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and support she has received, stating that it has created a sense of safety for her younger self. She emphasized that domestic violence is a crucial issue and called on people to believe victims from the start.
Numerous celebrities, including Kelly Rowland, Taraji P. Henson, Chloe Bailey, and Jeannie Mai, showed their support for Ventura on her Instagram post. Her husband, Alex Fine, also expressed his love and described her as a perfect example for their daughters.
Ventura had previously accused Combs of physical abuse, rape, and sex trafficking in a lawsuit filed in November. The lawsuit was quickly settled, with Combs denying the allegations and not admitting any wrongdoing as part of the settlement.
Following the release of the hotel surveillance video by CNN on May 17, Combs posted an apology, taking "full responsibility" for the assault and acknowledging his behavior as "inexcusable." However, Ventura's legal team dismissed the apology, highlighting that Combs had initially denied the allegations and suggested his victims were seeking financial gain.
Combs has been facing escalating legal troubles in recent days. Former model Crystal McKinney has filed a lawsuit alleging that he drugged and sexually assaulted her in 2003. Since Ventura's lawsuit last year, four others have also filed civil lawsuits against him, accusing him of sexual assault, sex trafficking, and other claims. Combs' lawyer has vowed to continue fighting to clear his client's name.
It has been almost two months since Combs had two of his homes raided amid a federal sex trafficking investigation. Although there are no updates on that specific case, Combs continues to face legal challenges. After Ventura's lawsuit, two more women filed civil suits under the New York Adult Survivors Act, which provides a one-year window for legal action related to sexual assault, even if the statute of limitations has expired. Another lawsuit was filed under New York's Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Law, allowing survivors until March 2025 to make claims.
Combs has vehemently denied all allegations against him, describing attempts to damage his reputation and legacy. Despite his denial, legal pressure continues to mount with a fifth woman filing a lawsuit against him after the release of the assault video.
As the public awaits further developments, it remains uncertain how the ongoing legal battles will unfold for Sean "Diddy" Combs.
