Bulldog Cases, based in Danville, Virginia, has issued a recall for certain models of their biometric gun safes after discovering a serious safety issue. The recall includes the Bulldog Magnum Biometric Pistol Vault (Model No. BD4030B), Magnum Biometric Pistol Vault with Shelf (Model No. BD4040B), and Magnum Biometric Top Load Pistol Vault (Model No. BD4055B).

The reason behind the recall is the biometric lock on these gun safes, which can be opened by unauthorized users. This poses a significant risk of injury or even death. The black steel safes are designed to store firearms and valuables, with the pistol vault (BD4030B) measuring 11.5 inches by 8 inches by 5.5 inches, the pistol vault with shelf (BD4040B) measuring 11.5 inches by 10 inches by 8 inches, and the top load pistol vault (BD4055B) measuring 11.5 inches by 9.8 inches by 2.5 inches.

Consumers who own these affected gun safes are urged to immediately stop using the biometric feature, remove the batteries, and only utilize the key when storing firearms. Bulldog is offering repair kits or free replacement safes for those with the Magnum Biometric Pistol Vaults, and free replacement safes for those with the Magnum Biometric Top Load Pistol Vaults.

Reports have indicated four cases of the safes being opened by unauthorized individuals, although no injuries have been reported as of yet. Owners are advised to check the model number on the silver sticker label located on the back right corner of the safe, with the brand name "Bulldog" displayed on the front.

For further information and to request a repair kit or replacement safe, consumers can contact Bulldog Cases directly.
