### Billy Joel Cancels Upcoming Tour Due to Health Issues
Music legend Billy Joel has announced the cancellation of his entire upcoming concert itinerary, which includes 17 shows across North America and England. The decision follows his recent diagnosis of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH), a condition that has been worsened by recent performances and has affected his hearing, vision, and balance. Joel's team released a statement explaining that he is undergoing specific physical therapy and has been advised by his doctors to avoid performing during this recovery period.
Joel expressed his regret in a statement, saying, "I'm sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience, and thank you for understanding." His last concert took place on February 22 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, where he experienced a fall but continued to finish the show. The decision to cancel the tour comes after Joel had already announced a four-month hiatus in March for surgery and physical therapy, with an intended return to the stage planned for July 5 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The 76-year-old artist recently concluded his decade-long residency at Madison Square Garden in July 2024. Despite not having released a new album of pop songs since 1993's "River of Dreams," Joel has continued to be a prominent name in the touring circuit, performing approximately twice a month across America and England. Earlier in February 2024, he released the single "Turn the Lights Back On" in collaboration with songwriter and producer Freddy Wexler, and performed it live at the Grammys.
Joel's summer tour was set to feature major venues, including Yankee Stadium and Citi Field in New York, and MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Fans who purchased tickets for any of the canceled shows will receive full refunds. In his statement, Joel emphasized his commitment to prioritizing his health and expressed his eagerness to return to the stage once he has fully recovered, thanking his fans for their continued support.
