**Buffalo Bills Eyeing Las Vegas Raiders' Davante Adams Amid Trade Rumors**
The Buffalo Bills are reportedly in discussions with the Las Vegas Raiders about acquiring All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams, according to veteran NFL reporter Albert Breer. Adams, who has voiced his frustration with the Raiders' performance multiple times, has reportedly informed the team that he wants to be traded.
Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer revealed that the Bills are among several teams that have reached out to the Raiders to explore a potential deal for Adams. Despite missing the Week 4 game due to a hamstring injury, Adams has managed to record 18 catches for 209 yards and one touchdown this season. The Raiders are looking to secure a second-round draft pick and additional considerations in exchange for Adams.
Financially, the Bills could match the Raiders' asking price, thanks to their stockpile of picks in 2025, which includes two second-round, two fourth-round, and two sixth-round picks, along with a first and third-round pick. However, the team's cap space is tight, with just over $3 million available for 2024. This tight budget is largely a result of the $64.2 million in dead cap space, including $31 million from the trade of wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans.
Adams' contract includes a nearly $17 million base salary for 2024 and $35.6 million due in 2025, though the latter is not guaranteed. Breer highlighted the Bills' cap issues but also noted that General Manager Brandon Beane has a history of maneuvering finances to secure key players.
Beyond financial concerns, Adams seems to be pushing to reunite with his former Green Bay Packers quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, now with the New York Jets. Adams and Rodgers previously enjoyed significant success together, with Adams earning five Pro Bowl selections while amassing 669 catches for 8,121 yards and 73 touchdowns over eight seasons.
Though Adams continued his impressive performance with the Raiders in 2022, leading the NFL in receiving touchdowns with 14, the chemistry shifted when quarterback Derek Carr left for the New Orleans Saints in 2023. Despite catching 103 passes that year, Adams and the Raiders' new quarterbacks couldn't replicate his previous success.
Veteran Bills reporter Sal Maiorana emphasized that the team's current receiving corps is underperforming, suggesting that Adams could be the solution to this problem. At 31 years old, Adams is on the latter part of his NFL career but believes he still has a few productive seasons left. Last season, he managed 103 receptions for 1,144 yards and eight touchdowns, despite rotating quarterbacks like Aidan O'Connell, Jimmy Garoppolo, and Brian Hoyer.
For Bills fans, the idea of Adams teaming up with quarterback Josh Allen is tantalizing, as Adams is still seeking his first Super Bowl ring—a major motivator for the seasoned receiver.
