In a recent interview on "Up & Adams," Bears cornerback Jalen Johnson clarified comments he made about top draft pick Caleb Williams that were misinterpreted as criticism.

During the interview in March, Johnson urged Williams to approach the NFL with humility, cautioning against bringing a "big man on campus" attitude into the locker room. Johnson emphasized that performing well in college and gaining recognition does not automatically translate to success in the professional league.

However, Johnson insists that his comments were taken out of context and blown out of proportion, causing unnecessary controversy. Speaking on "Parkins and Spiegel" on The Score, Johnson expressed frustration with those who engaged in clickbait without considering the entirety of the conversation.

Johnson explained that the "Hollywood" narrative surrounding Williams was brought up by the radio host, Kay Adams, and he was simply responding to her hypothetical scenario. He praised Adams and stated that the conversation was meant to discuss the importance of getting to know Williams as a person and understanding what motivates him to perform at his best.

Despite the earlier comments, the Chicago Bears ultimately selected Caleb Williams as the No. 1 overall pick in the recent NFL Draft. Johnson revealed that Williams even reached out to him before the draft to assure him of his focus on winning games and being a good teammate.

Overall, Johnson stressed the need to see beyond the media portrayal and truly get to know Williams as an individual. He acknowledged that it is the responsibility of the team to push each other to be better, but also emphasized the importance of building strong relationships to help Williams reach his full potential.

As the Bears prepare for the upcoming season, it is clear that Johnson's comments were misconstrued, and both he and Williams are committed to working together to bring success to the franchise.
