**Ravens Waive Yannick Ngakoue Amid Potential Roster Moves**

Veteran edge rusher Yannick Ngakoue, who rejoined the Baltimore Ravens in late September, is being waived according to a report by ESPN's Adam Schefter. As all players released after the trade deadline are subject to waivers, Ngakoue will be at risk of being picked up by another team. However, if he clears waivers, the Ravens plan to retain him on a practice squad deal, Schefter notes.

Ngakoue, now 29, initially found a quiet free agent market before he decided to return to the Ravens early in the regular season. Since rejoining the team, he has played in five games, accumulating 1.5 sacks and five quarterback pressures while logging a 25% snap share. His limited playing time this season might increase his chances of passing through waivers unclaimed.

Several teams showed interest in bolster their edge rushers before the trade deadline, including the Cardinals, Lions, and Steelers. The waiver wire now represents one of the few remaining avenues for such roster additions after the Giants chose to retain Azeez Ojulari. Given this interest, Ngakoue’s status could attract attention from teams still looking to strengthen their defensive lines.

The Ravens' decision to waive Ngakoue comes just hours before their Thursday night matchup, hinting at a potential corresponding roster move. Speculation points towards the activation of running back Keaton Mitchell, who practiced fully this week and is anticipated to make his debut, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. Head coach John Harbaugh had previously suggested a Week 10 return for Mitchell.

Mitchell, signed as an undrafted free agent, did not make his NFL debut until Week 6 of the previous season. During his limited appearances, he showcased his skills with an impressive 8.4 yards per carry average before an ACL injury ended his rookie season. Since then, he has been on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, and his practice window was opened just over two weeks ago. If activated, he would join a successful Ravens backfield led by Derrick Henry and Justice Hill.

This roster shuffle highlights the Ravens’ ongoing efforts to optimize their lineup as they navigate the second half of the season.
