Fans of the late actor Matthew Perry have taken to social media to express their disappointment with the BAFTA Awards for allegedly omitting him from their memorial segment during the recent show. The backlash arose as actress Hannah Waddingham delivered a stunning performance on stage at the awards, singing Cyndi Lauper's classic "Time After Time."

Multiple viewers criticized the BAFTA Awards for not including Perry in their tribute, with one Twitter user stating, "No mention of Matthew Perry in the #BAFTAs memorial?! Bad form." Others pointed out Perry's extensive contributions to both television and film, beyond his iconic role in the TV sitcom "Friends."

In response to the criticism, BAFTA senior executives assured fans that Matthew Perry would be honored at the upcoming TV Awards ceremony. They shared a link to Perry's tribute on the BAFTA website, highlighting his impressive body of work in the entertainment industry.

TMZ previously reported on the tragic passing of Perry, who was found deceased by his assistant in a hot tub at his Los Angeles residence last October. The coroner determined that Perry's cause of death was linked to the "acute effects of ketamine," with drowning listed as a secondary factor.

As the debate continues online, fans and industry insiders await Perry's upcoming tribute at the BAFTA TV Awards ceremony, as promised by the show's executives.
