### Upcoming Apple Launches: What to Expect from New M4 Macs and macOS Updates
Apple's next line of M4-powered Macs is anticipated to debut soon, according to insiders. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman projects that the official launch will happen on November 1, preceded by an announcement in late October. This timeline coincides with last year's Halloween-themed unveiling of the M3 Macs. However, the rollout could vary, with entry-level models potentially hitting the market first and high-end versions arriving later in the month.
The forthcoming lineup is expected to include updated 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros equipped with M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max chips. Additionally, a new M4 variant of the 24-inch iMac and an M4 upgrade to the Mac mini will be introduced, bypassing the previously released M3. Notably, these will be the first computers to feature the M4 chip following its initial appearance in the iPad Pro earlier this year.
Arguably, the most intriguing new addition is the redesigned Mac mini, reportedly featuring a size reduction closer to that of an Apple TV box while maintaining an internal power supply. The new lineup is expected to include an entry-level model with the standard M4 chip and a higher-end M4 Pro version, bridging the gap between the Mac mini and the Mac Studio. However, the reduction in size might mean fewer ports, with at least one model expected to feature five USB-C/Thunderbolt ports, some of which could be conveniently placed on the front for easy access.
There's also speculation about a new iPad mini at the October event, marking the first update for the tablet in three years. Other M4 Mac updates, such as those for the MacBook Air, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro, are slated for 2025.
Closing out the announcements, the new Macs will likely launch alongside macOS Sequoia 15.1, which will introduce the first batch of Apple Intelligence features to Apple Silicon Macs. While the rollout of Apple Intelligence will occur over multiple updates, the initial features will include image-generation capabilities and more advanced Siri functionalities. Interestingly, it appears that these M4 Macs will share their Apple Intelligence features with all models going back to the M1, ensuring wider compatibility.
