In a highly anticipated update, Android 14 has released its March Feature Drop, bringing a host of new features and important security fixes to users around the world. While the update will be available internationally starting today, users in the United States can expect to receive it on March 11.

One of the notable additions in this feature drop is the expansion of the Bluetooth Quick Settings Tile. Users can now view a list of up to three paired devices, along with their battery status. Additionally, Google reintroduces the ability to quickly switch between "Saved" accessories, a feature previously seen in earlier versions of Android.

Android 14 QPR2 improves the Pixel volume slider, replacing the thin line with a more user-friendly container. Screen recording or casting now offers a "single app" option, allowing users to record or cast specific applications rather than the entire display. However, this new feature comes at the cost of losing the ability to display touch input.

Another update to the Quick Settings Tile is the inclusion of a "Share Wi-Fi" shortcut, streamlining the process of sharing network credentials with others. Furthermore, the Microphone and Camera privacy indicators receive an upgrade, now featuring a handy "Close this app" shortcut when accessed through the Quick Settings menu.

For Pixel users, the Weather lockscreen clock receives an update to prominently display the activation of alarms or Do Not Disturb (DND) mode. On larger devices such as the Pixel Tablet, a modified taskbar highlights the ability to search for apps when accessing the grid from multitasking.

In terms of visual improvements, the Pixel Launcher grid now allows app names to occupy two lines instead of being truncated. App info pages now provide the package name below the version number, and the Force stop icon receives a refreshed design.

Android's Material You aesthetic is also present in this update, with the Settings app incorporating the new, narrower style for various on/off toggles. The user-friendly "Your Pixel is up to date" screen located in Settings > System > Software now redirects users to the Play Store's "Manage apps & device" page.

Lastly, the March patch for Android 14 resolves a total of 38 security issues, with 13 addressed in the patch released on March 1st, 2024, and an additional 25 on March 5th, 2024. These vulnerabilities range from high to critical severity. Google devices, in particular, receive 54 additional security fixes, ensuring a safer user experience.

The Android 14 March Feature Drop introduces exciting updates that enhance user convenience and productivity, alongside important security enhancements. Users worldwide can now benefit from these improvements, with the update gradually rolling out from today. Stay tuned as Android continues to evolve, providing an optimized mobile experience for users everywhere.
