### Andrew Garfield Open to Spider-Man Return Under Certain Conditions

**Andrew Garfield has expressed openness to reprising his role as Spider-Man, provided certain criteria are met.**

In a Wednesday cover story for Esquire, Garfield, known recently for his role in 'We Live in Time,' reminisced about his unexpected appearance in the 2021 blockbuster 'Spider-Man: No Way Home.' Joining forces with Tobey Maguire and the current Spider-Man, Tom Holland, Garfield returned to play Peter Parker in a film that delves into the multiverse. After 'The Amazing Spider-Man 3' was canceled post-disappointing outcomes of the second film, Garfield's stint as the iconic superhero seemed uncertain. However, the actor found returning in 'No Way Home' to be a "really healing" experience, especially given the intense scrutiny during his original casting.

When questioned about the possibility of once again donning the Spider-Man suit, Garfield said he is fully committed to a return if the conditions are favorable. "For sure, I would 100 percent come back if it was the right thing, if it's additive to the culture, if there's a great concept or something that hasn't been done before that's unique and odd and exciting and that you can sink your teeth into," he explained. Garfield’s affection for the character remains steadfast, stating, "I love that character, and it brings joy. If part of what I bring is joy, then I'm joyful in return."

'Spider-Man: No Way Home' achieved substantial success, grossing nearly $2 billion since its December 2021 release. Although a fourth film in the series has not been officially confirmed, Tom Holland mentioned in June 2023 that there have been discussions about another installment. "The first few meetings were about, 'Why would we do this again?' And I think we found the reason why," Holland shared.

Exclusive reports from The Hollywood Reporter indicate that Destin Daniel Cretton is in talks to direct 'Spider-Man 4,' with Holland set to return. Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are slated to write the script, while Marvel's Kevin Feige and former Sony chief Amy Pascal will produce.

In the meantime, Garfield is gearing up for the release of his new film 'We Live in Time,' alongside Florence Pugh, which marks his return to the big screen in a leading role after a two-year hiatus. Garfield expressed his renewed enthusiasm for acting: "I think I'm excited to work again in a different way. I feel looser, I feel less precious. I feel more joyful. I feel more aware."

Despite admitting that he remains deeply engrossed and perfectionistic about his roles, Garfield feels more at ease. "I know myself well enough now to feel more enjoyment... I’m still a headcase - when I’m on a set, I’m like a dog with a bone and get taken over by some weird spirit that is never satisfied - but that's never going to change, and I don’t want it to." His invigorated approach hints at more engaging performances to come.
