In a solemn announcement, Alabama A&M University has revealed the passing of Medrick Burnett Jr. The young athlete, who became a part of the Alabama A&M Bulldogs in the summer of 2024 for his redshirt freshman year, passed away on the evening of November 26. Burnett hailed from Lakewood, California, and was an alumnus of Mayfair High School. Before joining Alabama A&M, he spent the 2023 season with the Grambling State University football team.

Alabama A&M Director of Athletics Dr. Paul A. Bryant expressed the profound sorrow felt by the Bulldog family. "Today, our Bulldog family is heartbroken by the loss of Medrick," said Dr. Bryant. "Medrick was more than an exceptional athlete; he was a remarkable young man whose positive energy, leadership, and compassion left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. Burnett made notable contributions to the Alabama A&M football team during his time with them. As a linebacker, he participated in seven games this season, with a standout performance of three tackles in a game against Austin Peay.
