**Adele Battles Ear Infection During Las Vegas Residency, Receives Surprise Visit from Celine Dion**
Adele is facing a challenging situation that might be any singer's worst fear. Over the weekend, during her Las Vegas residency performance at The Colosseum in Caesars Palace, she revealed to her audience that she is currently dealing with partial hearing loss in her left ear following an infection. In a fan-recorded video, she shared, "I actually have an ear infection, which is pretty grim." Pointing to her left ear, she added, "It's the most painful thing that's ever, ever happened to me in my life, it was worse than childbirth."
Adele elaborated that the infection was caused by a rare water bacteria which initially received the wrong antibiotic treatment, delaying her recovery. "I'm a bit deaf. A bit deaf in my left ear," she said, explaining why she had been adjusting her in-ear monitors throughout the show. Despite the pain and feeling "very sorry for myself," Adele did not want to cancel the performance.
Following several performances in Munich in August, Adele took a six-week break during which she developed the ear infection. She returned to her Las Vegas residency recently and has been performing despite her ailment.
In another surprise twist during one of these concerts, Adele discovered that Celine Dion was in the audience. This moment was captured on video and posted to social media. The star excitedly asked, "Where is she?" before finding the Grammy-winning singer near the control board. Overcome with emotion upon seeing Dion, Adele burst into tears, and the two icons shared an emotional embrace.
Attempting to resume her performance, Adele sought help from the audience due to being overwhelmed with emotion. "Give it up for Miss Céline Dion," she requested, with the crowd responding enthusiastically. Dion, who once had her own residency at the same venue, was visibly moved by the warm reception.
Celine Dion had previously stunned fans in December 2022 by announcing her diagnosis with Stiff-person syndrome, which led to a significant hiatus from the public eye. Her appearance at Adele's concert marks a rare public outing since the announcement.
Adele has eight shows left in her residency, with the final concert scheduled for November 23. Following this, she plans to take an indefinite break from performing. Reflecting on the upcoming pause, she previously told fans in Munich, "I have 10 shows to do, but after that, I will not see you for an incredibly long time, and I will hold you dear in my heart."
