His family announced his passing on Instagram, describing him as a cherished father, husband, brother, uncle, son, and friend to many. Despite facing numerous challenges due to his illness, Mitchell was remembered for his grace and commitment to living a full and joyous life.
Mitchell's portrayal of Klingons and Aurellio in "Star Trek: Discovery" and his role as Joseph Danvers in "Captain Marvel" propelled him to fame. He also appeared in "Miracle," "Grey's Anatomy," "NCIS," and "Criminal Minds."
The "Star Trek" universe paid tribute to Mitchell on Sunday, expressing deep sadness over his death. His family highlighted Mitchell's qualities as a hope seeker and dream believer, but above all, as a proud father to his children Lilah and Kallum.
