A seafood wholesale factory in Jessup, Maryland, became the site of a major health scare on Monday, as 46 individuals fell ill after consuming the same meal. The incident took place at NAFCO Wholesale Seafood Distributors on Chesapeake Bay Court.
The Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services received emergency calls reporting multiple people feeling unwell around 3:45 p.m. Firefighters and paramedics promptly arrived at the scene to evaluate all affected individuals, who were then swiftly transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment.
Despite the severity of the incident, officials confirmed that none of the patients were in critical condition. They continue to be monitored and treated for symptoms of food poisoning.
In dealing with the large number of patients, emergency responders received essential support from neighboring Anne Arundel and Baltimore Counties, which provided mutual aid to manage the crisis effectively.
