"Wait," he chuckled, "I haven't written anything in a few days." However, he still finds a sense of accomplishment in creating music and has no plans to quit anytime soon. "I'm 90, maybe I should," he jokingly remarked.
Interestingly, Nelson admitted that he often contemplates quitting the music business. "Oh yeah, I quit every night. After every tour, I say this is it. And then I get the urge again to go back," he explained, showcasing his unwavering passion for his craft.
Looking back on his journey, Nelson reflected on the challenges he faced early in his career, including struggles as a solo artist. "I was kind of doing it the way I didn't want to do it," he confessed. Battling discouragement and alcohol abuse, he even contemplated suicide. However, he turned his life around by quitting drinking and embracing a positive mindset.
Nelson's remarkable longevity can also be credited to his lifelong practice of martial arts, a passion he pursues daily. With a fifth-degree black belt, he has trained in kung fu, jiu jitsu, judo, and taekwondo. Growing up in a rough environment in Texas, fighting became a way of life for him.
