Washington State University quarterback Cam Ward has made the decision to enter the transfer portal, according to an announcement made on Friday. Ward, who transferred to Washington State from Incarnate Word before the 2022 season, has had an impressive collegiate career thus far.

Prior to joining Washington State, Ward had an exceptional run at Incarnate Word, where he showcased his talent as a second-team FCS All-American player and was named the Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Year. In the 2021 season, Ward led Incarnate Word to a record of 10-3, throwing for an impressive 4,648 yards, 47 touchdowns, and just 10 interceptions.

Ward continued his success in 2022 as the starting quarterback for Washington State. He started all 13 games and threw for 3,231 yards and 23 touchdowns, earning himself an All-Pac-12 Conference honorable mention. In the 2023 season, Ward showed significant improvement, throwing for 3,732 yards, 25 touchdowns, and only 7 interceptions. He also contributed to the team with eight rushing touchdowns.

In his announcement regarding the transfer portal, Ward stated that he will be evaluating his prospects for the 2024 NFL Draft while also considering the possibility of a graduate transfer. This move will allow Ward to explore his options and potentially join another program for his final year of eligibility.

Ward's decision to enter the transfer portal comes as a surprise to many, considering his success and contributions to the Washington State football program. As one of the top quarterbacks in the Pac-12 Conference, his departure will undoubtedly leave a void for the Cougars. However, Ward's move also presents an opportunity for another program to acquire a talented and experienced quarterback for the upcoming season.

It remains to be seen where Ward will ultimately land, but his impressive performance both at Incarnate Word and Washington State will undoubtedly make him an attractive prospect for potential suitors in the transfer market. As he evaluates his options, Ward will undoubtedly have the support and well wishes of the Cougar community as he moves forward in his football career.

Washington State University and its fans will eagerly await the outcome of Ward's decision and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
