New Buffalo Football Coach Pete Lembo Brings Years of Experience and Success
In an exciting announcement, the University at Buffalo revealed that South Carolina's special teams coach, Pete Lembo, has been chosen as the next head coach for the Buffalo football team. The 53-year-old coach has signed a five-year contract, adding stability and expertise to the team.
Lembo will be taking over from Maurice Linguist, who recently accepted a position as co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach at the University of Alabama. During his three seasons as Buffalo's head coach, Linguist achieved a record of 14 wins and 23 losses.
The new Buffalo coach has an impressive track record in the Mid-American Conference (MAC), having led Ball State to a solid 33-29 overall record, including a 23-17 record in league play, during his five years as head coach. This experience in the MAC is expected to greatly benefit the Buffalo team going forward.
Throughout his career, Lembo has built a reputation as an exceptional head coach, boasting an impressive record of 112 wins and 65 losses over 15 seasons at programs such as Ball State, Lehigh, and Elon. Additionally, Lembo has garnered praise for his prowess as a special teams coach, having held previous coaching positions at Maryland, Rice, and Memphis before joining South Carolina.
Mark Alnutt, Buffalo's athletic director, expressed his enthusiasm for Lembo's appointment, highlighting the coach's impressive coaching acumen and successful track record at various previous stops. Alnutt emphasized Lembo's positive engagement and relationship-building skills, which are set to be a valuable asset in leading a successful program.
Alnutt further emphasized that he has complete confidence in Lembo's ability to lead the team to success, stating, "I have no doubt that we will be very competitive and win championships in the MAC. The future is very bright for UB Football with Coach Lembo at the helm."
One of the key factors in Lembo being chosen as the next head coach for Buffalo was his extensive head-coaching experience, which aligns with the priorities set by Mark Alnutt during the search process.
With Pete Lembo now at the helm, Buffalo football fans can look forward to a future filled with experience, expertise, and a strong track record of success.
