The Pittsburgh Steelers have announced their inactives list for their Week 7 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium. However, the focus is not on who won't be playing, but rather on the players who will be making their return to the field.
One notable addition to the active roster is wide receiver Diontae Johnson, who has been activated from the Reserve/Injured List. Johnson suffered a hamstring injury during Week 1 of the season against the San Francisco 49ers, causing him to miss several games. Now, Johnson is eager to make his comeback.
"I am very excited. It's been a long process, fighting to get back. I am looking forward to showing them I am ready," expressed Johnson.
Head coach Mike Tomlin praised Johnson's route-running ability and highlighted his importance to the offense. Tomlin said, "Expert route running... Vertical, non-vertical. He can create separation at break points."
Johnson himself plans to make an impact with his route-running skills, providing a spark to the team's offensive arsenal. "That spark from a route running standpoint... Comfort for Kenny (Pickett) out there knowing he can rely on his guys, knowing who is going to be open each down and distance," said Johnson. He also emphasized the strong connection and camaraderie among the wide receiver corps.
In addition to Johnson's return, the Steelers' offensive line will be back at full strength with the return of guard James Daniels and left tackle Dan Moore Jr. Both players expressed their excitement at being able to contribute and help the team.
Another notable update is the placement of tight end Pat Freiermuth on the Reserve/Injured List and the release of receiver Gunner Olszewski. This leaves the Steelers with 52 players on the active roster, impacting the number of inactives for the game.
Among the Steelers' inactives for today's matchup are quarterback Mason Rudolph, cornerback Darius Rush, tackle Dylan Cook, and nose tackle Breiden Fehoko. On the Rams side, their inactives include outside linebacker Nick Hampton, running back Myles Gaskin, defensive lineman Larrell Murchison, offensive lineman Zach Thomas, and offensive tackle Warren McClendon.
With Diontae Johnson's return and the offensive line back at full strength, the Steelers look to take on the Rams with renewed confidence and firepower. The dynamic playmaking abilities of Johnson, combined with the improved protection and stability upfront, will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the team's performance.
