Injury concerns loom over the New Orleans Saints as they head into their bye week. Quarterback Derek Carr remains in concussion protocol, while wide receiver Michael Thomas and cornerback Marshon Lattimore have both sustained significant injuries.

Carr's health was a topic of concern after he took a devastating hit during Sunday's loss to the Minnesota Vikings. He exited the game in the third quarter, and backup quarterback Jameis Winston stepped in to finish out the 27-19 defeat. However, the good news is that Carr's right shoulder has been deemed fine after undergoing evaluation.

Although Carr had previously suffered a shoulder injury in Week 3, he managed to avoid missing any games. Fortunately for Carr and the Saints, it seems as though he has once again avoided a major injury. With the bye week upon them, Carr will have ample time to proceed through the concussion protocol before the Saints return to action in Week 12 against the Atlanta Falcons.

On the other hand, the situation is not as favorable for Michael Thomas and Marshon Lattimore. Head coach Dennis Allen announced that both players sustained "fairly significant injuries" in Sunday's game. While Allen does not believe the injuries to be season-ending, Thomas and Lattimore will undergo further evaluation and rehab during the bye week.

Specific details about the injuries were revealed by NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, who reported that Lattimore has a high ankle sprain, placing him in a week-to-week status according to a source. This indicates that Lattimore's return timeline remains uncertain.

As for the Saints, they currently hold a 5-5 record, positioning them at the top of the NFC South. The bye week comes at a crucial time, allowing players time to heal, recover, and strategize for the upcoming matchups. The return of Carr, Thomas, and Lattimore will be of utmost importance as the Saints look to maintain their divisional lead and secure a spot in the playoffs.

Despite the setbacks, the Saints remain optimistic and determined to overcome these injuries as they prepare for the challenges ahead. The bye week serves as a valuable opportunity for players to rejuvenate and come back stronger, hoping to lead the team to continued success in the second half of the season.
