As teams jostle for playoff positions, running backs will need to overcome tough defenses in order to provide much-needed points for fantasy owners.

One player who will have his work cut out for him is Breece Hall of the New York Jets. Hall, who has been a reliable RB6 in fantasy since Week 5, has faced resistance from defenses that are not respecting the Jets' passing game. Despite his tackle-breaking skills and impressive yards after contact per attempt, Hall has struggled to top 50 rushing yards in recent weeks. Facing the improved run defense of the Buffalo Bills, Hall will need to rely on his receiving production to make an impact.

Another running back facing a challenging matchup is James Cook of an undisclosed team. Cook's usage has been inconsistent throughout the season, with his workload ranging from as little as eight touches to as many as 21 touches in a game. Last week, Cook's early fumble saw him benched, raising concerns about his role moving forward. However, if given the volume, Cook has shown the ability to produce, especially against a struggling run defense like the New York Jets.

Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet also face tough matchups in Week 11. Walker, who has been hampered by injuries, has struggled with missed tackles forced per attempt and yards after contact per attempt. The Los Angeles Rams have proven to be a formidable opponent for opposing running backs, boasting low explosive run rates and impressive yards after contact per attempt allowed. Similarly, Charbonnet faces a staunch Rams defense that has limited explosive run rates and yards after contact per attempt.

In contrast, Javonte Williams appears to have a more favorable matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. Williams has been a consistent performer in recent weeks, finishing as the RB20, RB9, and RB5 in fantasy. Although the Vikings have a tough run defense, Williams' explosive run rate and yards after contact per attempt could give him an edge if provided with the necessary volume.

D'Andre Swift finds himself in a bit of a slump, relying heavily on volume rather than explosive plays. However, a matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs could provide an opportunity for better rushing production. The Chiefs have allowed high explosive run rates and yards after contact per attempt, making Swift a potential RB1 option for Week 11.

Other running backs such as Isiah Pacheco, Najee Harris, and Jaylen Warren will also face challenging matchups but have the potential to produce if given the opportunity.

As fantasy owners make crucial roster decisions in Week 11, it is essential to consider the tough matchups that running backs will face. The ability to overcome stout run defenses and capitalize on receiving opportunities will be key factors in determining the success of these players in fantasy football.
