In a recent social media exchange, former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III and former coach Jay Gruden ignited a fiery feud that revealed unresolved tensions between the two. The dispute began when Gruden, who was watching a game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, took to Twitter to express his opinion on the treatment of Eagles' quarterback Jalen Hurts. He tweeted, "If I ever put a QB through what Philly is putting Jalen through, I apologize."

Griffin, who played under Gruden's coaching in 2014, swiftly responded with confusion, posting, "Say WHATTTT???" This prompted Gruden to throw a direct jab at Griffin, questioning his preparedness as a player, stating, "U weren't prepared Robert?"

The back-and-forth didn't end there - Griffin took the dispute to his podcast, where he accused Gruden of requesting him to publicly criticize his teammates during a press conference, only to later betray him in front of the team and the media. Gruden, in response, took aim at Griffin's ability as a football player, asserting in a now-deleted tweet, "You weren't good enough. Kirk [Cousins] was better."

The tension escalated further when Griffin highlighted that Gruden's criticism extended beyond Washington, where they had previously worked together. Griffin claimed that Gruden insinuated that both the Cleveland Browns and the Baltimore Ravens did not want him on their teams. Griffin was eventually benched in favor of Cousins, leading to the franchise moving on from him as their first-round pick.

In a clip from Griffin's podcast, the retired quarterback expressed his frustration with Gruden's lack of self-awareness and integrity, accusing him of requesting actions without offering support when things didn't go as planned. Gruden then responded to the clip, challenging Griffin's intentions and asking if he really wanted to escalate the situation.

Griffin promptly replied, clarifying that he had no intention of playing games and highlighting his retirement from the NFL. He extended an invitation for Gruden to appear on his podcast for a face-to-face discussion, claiming to know insider information that Gruden would not want revealed.

This social media feud is not the first public exchange between the two former colleagues. Previously, Gruden had shared a video clip of Griffin running alongside the live mascot of the Seattle Seahawks, teasing him by saying, "go race a pigeon."

Robert Griffin III played for Washington for three seasons before moving on to play for the Cleveland Browns and the Baltimore Ravens. However, he was unable to hold onto a starting job and eventually hung up his cleats after the 2020 season. Gruden, on the other hand, had a turbulent coaching career, most notably with the Washington franchise.

As the online spat continues, fans and followers are left to wonder if this exchange will eventually be resolved or escalate further, potentially bringing more revelations to light.
