A touchdown and a field goal - both set up by defensive takeaways - were all the New York Giants needed to beat the Patriots, 10-7, on Sunday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. This loss marks the fourth consecutive defeat for the Patriots, who were coming off a bye week.

The Patriots' offensive woes were evident once again, as quarterback Mac Jones had a disastrous start, throwing two interceptions in the first half. Jones completed just 12 of 21 pass attempts for 89 yards. In an attempt to revive the offense, Patriots coach Bill Belichick replaced Jones with backup quarterback Bailey Zappe at the start of the second half. Zappe completed 9 of 14 pass attempts for 54 yards, but also threw an interception.

"It's my job to play well regardless of the circumstances, so there's no excuses," Jones said after the game.

Rookie running back Rhamondre Stevenson provided a bright spot for the Patriots, carrying the ball 21 times for 98 yards. Ezekiel Elliott also contributed with nine carries for 46 yards. However, the Patriots' inability to establish a balanced offensive attack proved to be their downfall.

Giants rookie quarterback Tommy DeVito, making his third start after being promoted from the practice squad due to injuries, had a solid performance. DeVito completed 17 of 25 passes for 195 yards and one touchdown. His touchdown pass to Isaiah Hodgins gave the Giants a 7-0 lead in the first half.

The Patriots had an opportunity to force overtime, but kicker Chad Ryland missed a 35-yard field goal attempt with just 6 seconds left in the game. Ryland, a rookie drafted in the fourth round, expressed his disappointment, stating, "Obviously did not do my job well there. I've got to be better."

The Patriots' struggles on offense have raised questions about the starting quarterback position. Belichick did not reveal who would start the next game, leaving uncertainty surrounding the team's future quarterback decisions.

With this loss, the Patriots fall to 2-9 for the season. They will face the Chargers at Gillette Stadium next Sunday at 1 p.m. as they continue to search for answers to their offensive woes.
