In the search for a new offensive coordinator, the New England Patriots have identified three potential candidates, with one moving on to the next stage of the interview process. After recent developments, the Patriots have chosen to bring in Rams tight ends coach Nick Caley for a second, in-person interview.

Caley, who spent his entire NFL coaching career in Foxborough before joining the Los Angeles Rams in 2023, has apparently caught the attention of the Patriots once again. Despite his brief departure, Caley's familiarity with the organization make him an intriguing candidate for the vacant position.

The search for a new offensive coordinator was necessitated after Dan Pitcher was retained by the Cincinnati Bengals and Shane Waldron was subsequently hired by the Chicago Bears, effectively taking them out of the running. However, the Patriots have swiftly moved on, considering other candidates to bring fresh ideas to their offensive scheme.

Among the new candidates is Brian Fleury, who brings a wealth of experience coaching in San Francisco. Fleury spent the last five years with the 49ers, working on both sides of the ball. Initially, he served as a defensive quality control coach before transitioning to the offense in 2020. Over the past two seasons, Fleury has been responsible for coaching the 49ers' tight ends, and his work with George Kittle contributed to the tight end earning Second-Team All-Pro honors in 2022. Before joining the 49ers, Fleury held positions as a football research analyst and director of football research with the Miami Dolphins.

Another candidate being considered is Luke Getsy, who was recently let go by the Chicago Bears as their offensive coordinator. Bears Head Coach Matt Eberflus acknowledged the need for improvement in the offense's growth and development when he made the decision to part ways with Getsy on January 10th. Getsy's NFL experience has largely been with the Green Bay Packers, where he served in multiple coaching roles, including offensive quality control coach, wide receivers coach, quarterbacks coach, and passing game coordinator. Prior to his time in Green Bay, Getsy held the position of offensive coordinator at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Mississippi State.

With Caley now set for a second interview, Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick and his staff seem determined to find the right fit for their offensive coordinator position. The role will be crucial in utilizing the talents of rookie quarterback Mac Jones and building a successful offensive unit for the upcoming season.

Patriots fans eagerly await news of the team's final decision on their offensive coordinator, which is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
