The Green Bay Packers have announced the status of several players ahead of their upcoming game against the Los Angeles Chargers. Cornerback Jaire Alexander, linebackers Rashan Gary and Quay Walker have all been listed as questionable, while safety Rudy Ford is doubtful to play.
Jaire Alexander, who has been dealing with shoulder and back injuries throughout the season, missed last Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, he returned to practice on a limited basis on Thursday, giving hope for his potential availability against the Chargers.
Rashan Gary's shoulder injury was only recently added to the injury report, with the Packers' Head Coach Matt LaFleur expressing that there is no long-term concern. While the team is taking precautions, it is expected that Gary's injury won't keep him out for an extended period.
Quay Walker, who has been dealing with a groin injury, missed the past two games. However, he was limited in practice throughout the week, indicating a possible return to the lineup on Sunday.
Unfortunately for the Packers, safety Rudy Ford is doubtful due to a biceps injury that kept him out of practice all week. Ford played all 65 defensive snaps in the last game against the Steelers but was unable to participate in practice leading up to the Chargers matchup.
In Ford's absence, rookie Anthony Johnson Jr. had an impressive performance as a spot starter earlier this month against the Minnesota Vikings. Johnson accumulated two passes defensed and one interception, showcasing his potential to contribute to the team.
While the Packers have listed several players as questionable or doubtful, there are also a number of players who are expected to be available for Sunday's game. Defensive lineman Kenny Clark, guard Elgton Jenkins, running back Aaron Jones, tackle Yosh Nijman, guard Jon Runyan, and receiver Christian Watson are among those who are not facing any game status concerns.
On the Chargers' side, tight end Gerald Everett and safety JT Woods have been ruled out due to chest and non-football illness issues, respectively. Receivers Keenan Allen and Jalen Guyton, as well as running back Isaiah Spiller, have been listed as questionable. However, Allen participated fully in Friday's practice, suggesting a higher likelihood of his availability.
The Chargers have also listed several players who are expected to be available for the game, including linebacker Joey Bosa, safety Alohi Gilman, tackle Rashawn Slater, defensive tackle Sebastian Joseph-Day, and tight end Donald Parham.
As Sunday's matchup approaches, the Packers and Chargers will closely monitor the status of their injured players, making any necessary adjustments to their gameplans accordingly.
