In Week 8 of the NFL season, several players stood out with their outstanding performances, as reflected in the grades and data provided by Pro Football Focus (PFF). Among the notable highlights were the dominating display by CeeDee Lamb of the Dallas Cowboys and the promising debut of rookie quarterback Will Levis of the Tennessee Titans.
Lamb, the star wide receiver for the Cowboys, showcased his skills on Sunday and earned a remarkable 90.0-plus overall grade from PFF. Just a few weeks after expressing a desire for more involvement in the team's offense, Lamb delivered his best game of the season against the Los Angeles Rams. He hauled in 12 receptions for an impressive 158 yards and scored two touchdowns. Additionally, Lamb achieved a season-high 4.51 yards per route run figure, demonstrating his impact as a playmaker for the Cowboys.
Meanwhile, Levis, the second-round draft pick for the Titans, made an impressive first start in the NFL. The rookie quarterback threw for a total of four touchdowns, unveiling his potential as a promising talent. In the victory over the Atlanta Falcons, Levis completed 18 of his 28 pass attempts for 234 yards. He showcased his ability to make big plays, achieving a 7.1% big-time throw rate, which was the best among rookie quarterbacks in Week 8.
Aside from Lamb and Levis, other standout players from Week 8 include Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys, Dexter Lawrence of the New York Giants, and Mike Hilton of the Cincinnati Bengals.
Prescott had a stellar performance, setting season highs in touchdown passes (four) and big-time throws (three) without making any turnover-worthy plays. He completed 25 of his 31 pass attempts for 304 yards, with his lone interception being a tipped pass that was behind the intended receiver.
Lawrence, a defensive lineman for the Giants, recorded his best game of the season during the team's loss to the New York Jets. He earned an impressive 94.7 PFF pass-rushing grade, accumulating 15 quarterback pressures, including a sack and three hits. Lawrence's pressure rate stood at an impressive 42.9% of his pass-rushing snaps. He also excelled against the run, making two tackles resulting in defensive stops.
On the defensive side of the ball, Hilton of the Cincinnati Bengals made a significant impact in the team's victory over the San Francisco 49ers. Hilton displayed his versatility, contributing both in coverage and run defense. He registered two tackles on 10 run-defense snaps, both resulting in defensive stops, and allowed just two receptions across 26 coverage snaps. Additionally, Hilton had an interception, although it was nullified by a roughing the passer penalty.
These standout performances from Week 8 left a lasting impression and emphasized the impact of these players on their respective teams. As the season progresses, it will be intriguing to see if they can maintain their impressive form and continue to contribute at such high levels.
