On Thanksgiving Day, the Detroit Lions, Dallas Cowboys, and San Francisco 49ers will be donning throwback uniforms, adding a touch of nostalgia to the holiday games.

The Lions will be wearing their throwback threads for the first time on Thanksgiving since 2020. Usually reserved for the final home game of the season, the Lions' uniforms feature plain silver helmets, Honolulu blue jerseys, and silver pants. The last time the Lions wore these uniforms was in a victorious match against their Thanksgiving Day opponent, the Green Bay Packers, on January 9, 2022.

The Cowboys, on the other hand, will be outfitted in their throwback uniforms for the second consecutive Thanksgiving. These uniforms mimic the team's original design and include white helmets, blue jerseys with stars on the shoulders, and white pants. These throwbacks were last worn in a Thanksgiving game in 2012, resulting in a loss against Thursday's opponent, the Washington Commanders.

The San Francisco 49ers, playing on Thursday night against the Seattle Seahawks, will be sporting their road version of the 1994 throwback uniforms. These uniforms feature drop shadow numbers, three sleeve stripes, and white pants. The 49ers have recorded a 2-2 record in these throwback contests, including a victory against the Seahawks when they wear their Action green jerseys, similar to what they will be wearing this Thursday.

In addition to the throwback uniforms, all six teams playing on Thanksgiving Day will pay tribute to the late Hall of Fame coach and broadcaster, John Madden. Each team will wear a John Madden jersey patch, while a "John Madden Thanksgiving Celebration" stencil will be displayed on the sidelines at Ford Field, AT&T Stadium, and Lumen Field. A special commemorative coin, featuring Madden's silhouette on one side and a six-legged turducken on the other, will be used for the coin toss in each game.

The action-packed Thanksgiving Day games kick off with the Lions hosting the Packers at 12:30 p.m. ET on FOX. The Cowboys will then take on the Commanders at 4:30 p.m. ET on CBS. The final game of the day will feature the Seahawks against the 49ers at 8:20 p.m. on NBC.

As fans gather around their Thanksgiving feasts, they can appreciate the historical significance of these throwback uniforms donned by the Lions, Cowboys, and 49ers, bringing back memories of iconic moments on the gridiron.
