The New York Jets are continuing their quarterback carousel as they make changes to their quarterback room once again. Tim Boyle is set to be released by the Jets, while Brett Rypien will be signed off the Seattle Seahawks practice squad, according to CBS Sports HQ senior NFL insider Josina Anderson.

Boyle, who was elevated to the starting lineup for the Jets' last two games, filled in for the deposed Zach Wilson. However, his performance on the field left much to be desired. Boyle completed 41 of 63 passes for 327 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions. He struggled under pressure, taking eight sacks and fumbling twice. In the second of those two games, Boyle was replaced by Trevor Siemian, who was serving as the backup quarterback ahead of Wilson.

Earlier this week, reports emerged suggesting that the Jets were planning to reinstate Wilson as the starting quarterback. However, the team has now officially decided to move on from Boyle as well. Enter Brett Rypien, who will now join the Jets after spending time on the practice squads and active rosters of the Broncos, Rams, and Seahawks in recent seasons.

Rypien's track record in the NFL has been limited, starting just four games throughout his career. He has completed 58.3% of his passes, averaging 5.7 yards per attempt. His touchdown to interception ratio stands at four touchdowns against nine interceptions. It remains to be seen whether he will provide the answer the Jets are looking for.

The quarterback situation in New York has been a remarkable disaster this season. After Aaron Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in the opening game, hopes for a potential comeback bid for the Jets have been dashed. Wilson's performances in his 10 appearances were so poor that he was eventually benched in favor of the inexperienced Boyle. However, the revolving door of quarterbacks has yet to yield stable or successful results.

Meanwhile, other backup quarterbacks across the league, such as Joshua Dobbs, Gardner Minshew, Tommy DeVito, and Joe Flacco, have at least shown some level of competence when called upon. For the Jets, this ongoing saga of poor quarterback play continues to undermine the team's excellent defense, marking a significant failure for the organization.

As the Jets turn to Brett Rypien, it remains to be seen if he can provide the stability and improved performance that the team desperately needs at the quarterback position. However, it is clear that the Jets are willing to explore all options in their quest to find a solution and salvage their season.

Stay tuned as we continue to follow the latest developments in the New York Jets' quarterback situation.
